Patricia Arquette thanks Robert Mueller in her acceptance speech

Arquette was accepting her award as best actress in a TV movie or miniseries for her work in Escape at Dannemora when she gave a special shoutout to Mueller. “Thank you, Robert Mueller, and everyone working to make sure that we have sovereignty for the United States of America.”

Black Panther makes history

Black Panther is a cinematic masterpiece in its own right, and the Marvel movie was honored with one of the most coveted awards of the night- Best Ensemble Cast (the SAG Awards 2019’s version of Best Picture). Black Panther made history by the first superhero picture and the biggest box-office earner to ever win the guild’s top prize.

Chadwick Boseman was surprised to say the least and admitted he was not planning on giving a speech, but the actor still made a very moving statement. “We all know what it’s like to be told, ‘There is not a place for you to be featured,’ yet you are young, gifted and black. We know what it’s like to be told, ‘There’s not a screen for you to be featured on, a stage for you to be featured on.’ We know what’s it like to be the tail and not the head. We know what it’s like to be beneath and not above.” the wrap-up music began to play and Boseman continued, “Don’t give me the music. I just have to say, it’s a pleasure to be celebrated by you and loved by you. I know you can’t have a Black Panther now without a 2 on it.”

Geoffrey Owens pays homage to his Trader Joes job

A few months ago the Cosby Show alum was-for a lack of a better word- roasted for being employed at the popular grocery store chain. Owens defended his job then, and gave TJ’s a shoutout at the SAG Awards 2019. “Somewhere in the middle of the road in my life, I found myself in the dark wood of unemployment and debt, but instead of switching careers like a sane person, I took a job at a local Trader Joe’s,” Owens said. “And it’s actually worked out pretty well.” After his speech, the room erupted in applause.

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt cemented their spot as the cutest couple ever

Everyone already knows that Krasinski and Blunt are already perfect. Now after their display at the SAG Awards 2019 it’s basically official that they win the award for cutest couple 2019 as well. Once Blunt was announced as the winner for best actress in a supporting role, Krasinski wept with joy, and then Blunt made the moment even cuter by dedicating the award to him. “I’m going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski,” said Blunt. “You are a stunning filmmaker. Thank you for giving me the part; you would’ve been in major trouble if you hadn’t.”

Alan Alda was honored and received a standing ovation

Alda (whose real name is Alphonso D’Abruzzo ) was given a standing ovation after being honored with SAG-AFTRA’s Life Achievement Award. Alda is a Hollywood legend starring in many different roles in notable films and series including M*A*S*H, ER and The West Wing. Alda made a speech on the importance of acting in the world today. “It may never have been more urgent to see the world through another person’s eyes when the world is so divided … actors can help a little with what we do,” he said. “Let’s stay playful; let’s have fun. Let’s keep searching.”
