Women have a new reason to hit the Web thanks to Iamsuperchick.com, an online female fitness program developed by Sky Sports presenter Georgie Thompson and personal trainer Cat Dugdale. The site helps women stick to a fitness regime on their own schedules. We spoke to Thompson about “credit crunch fitness,” getting off the couch and, naturally, cupcakes.
Try these:
Lunges in the lounge: Cans of beans could be your new weights. “Using what you have lying around the house and turning your front room into a gym is part of our credit crunch appeal,” Thompson says.
Click to be fit: Don’t some women cheat in their online fitness “diaries”? As it turns out, most Superchicks really do want to be accountable. “Unless you’ve got a personal trainer tracking your progress,” says Thompson, “no one can guarantee your accountability other than yourself.”
A cupcake a day keeps the doctor away (kind of): OK, so it’s not the real frosted deal, but it still helps: “We make exercise fun. We have an alcohol calculator, interactive training diary and fitness assessment charts as well as Motivation Monday, where we send members an electronic cupcake.”
Keep it real
It can be hard to choose the gym over a glass of wine on the couch. “Women won’t stick to an unrealistic training program, no matter how committed they are,” says Thompson. “We offer an alternative; online programs and home videos they can fit into their hectic lifestyles.”
