Bekah Martinez’s boyfriend, Grayston Leonard, is the reason why we didn’t see the Bachelor alumna in Paradise this year.
She revealed her mystery man this past July, writing on Instagram, “my own private paradise.”
Martinez told PureWow at the time, “Now that we’re at a serious point, I feel comfortable sharing this with the world.”
But, Martinez, who appeared on Arie Luyendyk’s season of The Bachelor, revealed another very major reason why she didn’t make it onto Bachelor in Paradise: she’s pregnant.
“It’s the one thing that I’ve known with certainty for so long,” she told PureWow of being a mother, despite the fact that her pregnancy wasn’t planned. “I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of marriage and relationships, but I’ve always felt sure that I want to be a mom.”
In terms of staying off Bachelor in Paradise, Martinez said it was a good decision.
“I think pregnancy is better than Bachelor in Paradise,” she admitted. “Although I’m probably equally as sweaty, exhausted, nauseous, stressed out and emotional, at least I don’t have to worry about finding a man. I already have that one covered.”

“At first we decided to take our relationship slow because I didn’t know if I was going to go on Paradise or not and I wasn’t really sure what I wanted. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to miss out on that opportunity,” Martinez told PureWow of Leonard. “But as it got closer to [filming] I just started realizing that it wasn’t worth it for me to put myself in that environment where I could possibly jeopardize what I had with Grayston.”
“I just decided that the guy that I was with back home was the person that I wanted to be with right now,” Martinez explained. “It was kinda this realization that if I have something right in front of me that’s good, why am I going to go out of my way to look for something else?” (Amen.)
Leonard wrote on Instagram back in July that Martinez “has finally lifted the restrictions on my instagram. The training wheels are off and this lil boy gets to run wild and share my love and affection publicly. This is my lady and I’m proud of it.”

Martinez is 23 and Leonard is 29 — but the former Bachelor contestant implied to PureWow that the age difference isn’t significant: “He may be older than me—not by much, he’s just 29—but you can keep your youthfulness as long as you want to.”
“Grayston has a curiosity about the world and zest for life,” she said. “And that’s what’s really important to me. He’s just totally himself and doesn’t give a sh*t about what anybody else thinks, and I really like that about him.”

“At first, it was really casual and we were just doing a lot of fun stuff together, and then it just progressed into something deeper,” Martinez said.

“He’s opening his own climbing gym in Long Beach, California, at the end of this year,” Martinez confirmed to PureWow.
The facility, Long Beach Rising, is slatted to open in January 2019, according to its official Instagram page.
It’s described as, “A premier Bouldering Facility offering Yoga, Fitness, Sauna and Coffee.”

“He immediately started researching prenatal vitamins and then presented me with the top four options to choose from,” Martinez detailed. “He’s been really into finding resources and reading books about pregnancy.”
“He stepped up to the plate and it just makes me feel that much better about starting this new chapter in my life with him,” she continued, adding that Leonard gives her back massages and cooks meals for her regularly (points for you, Leonard).
Whether or not the two secretly tied the knot is the question Bachelor fans have been asking ever since Leonard posted two consecutive, very romantic Instagrams that suggested they could have gotten married (despite the fact that Martinez told PureWow, “The last thing we need is to consider another commitment on top of what we’re already going through”).

While Martinez revealed exclusively to PureWow that she and Leonard have a baby on the way, she also posted a video detailing the news and how she’s handled her pregnancy thus far:
“I don’t care what the circumstances are,” Martinez says in the video, “this is gonna work.”
She’s due at the end of January 2019.
