They might be pretending to be dead, but they aren’t playing.
Diehard devotees of the Affordable Care Act piled into downtown Brooklyn Saturday to protestPresidentDonald Trump’sefforts to gut Obamacare with a dramatic die-in.
Activists from the group “Get Organized BK!” reclined on their backs outside Brooklyn Borough Hall, holding signs shaped like tombstones with inscriptions that read “Untreated breast cancer” and “Chose food over meds.” RELATED: 7 things you need to know about the GOP’s new healthcare replacement City Council Member Brad Lander, Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams joined patients and health care workers sharing information and personal stories about how theAffordable Care Act has helped to save lives. “Estimates have said that if 15 to 20 million Americans lose their healthcare as is projected from the Republicans’ plan, that 20 to 40,000 Americans a year will die,” said Lander. Mike Pence was in Kentucky promoting the bill as beneficial to Americans.
“This is dramatic and visible and real. We’re out here because it really is a matter of life or death,” Lander said at the protest.
