High School Musical 3 actor Justin Martin, 21, has been charged after he allegedly engaged in a shoot-out with Boston Police in Dorchester earlier this week.
Police rolled into the Bowdoin Avenue and Nottingham Street area at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday after they heard multiple gunshots ring out, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Thats when Martin, a resident of Coynes, Georgia, allegedly took off running with a gun in his hands, then turned and pointed it at cops. Martin didn’t fire at the cops, the DA said, but a 17-year-old male stepped up and opened fire with a handgun.

Police fired a single shot, but missed.
Martin tripped and fell while fleeing, the DA said, giving cops the chance to detain him and recover a loaded .22 caliber handgun.
Martin shared the screen with Zac Efferon in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Denzel Washington in Flight, Jamie Foxx in The Soloist and performed in a few Broadway plays.
Police also arrested the teenager, and found a .25 caliber Raven Arms handgun loaded with five rounds.
After a quick search of the area, police say they found a Smith and Wesson 225 handgun loaded with one round in the magazine and one in the chamber where Martin hit the deck. They found shell casings near where officers first spotted Martin where they first heard gunfire.
According to the Boston Police blog, officers were not sure if the kid they arrested was the same gunman who shot at the officers during the pursuit.
There were no injuries.
Judge Serge Georges set Martin’s bail at $35,000, required that he wear a GPS monitor and that he stay away from his juvenile co-defendant.
Martin will appear in the Suffolk County Gun Court on August 13. The juvenile will return to court on July 29.
