We can’t seem to get enough of a good medical drama. Grey’s Anatomy has had such a successful run that Ellen Pompeo is paid an impressive amount of money per episode. But we still have room in our hearts for new versions of this TV genre as seen with the success of ABC’s The Good Doctor, launching into its second season tonight. If you cut the cord with cable, don’t worry; you can still tune in for The Good Doctor season 2 premiere, and we rounded up all the ways to do it.
Expect some changes even if you loved the first installment of the series, though. Following his offer letter from a hospital in Colorado, Dr Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu) will not be returning to the second season. You will, however, see more of surgical residents Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) and Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann), attending surgeon Dr Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) and Dr Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore)’s neighbor and love interest, Lea (Paige Spara). All four actors have been promoted to series regulars.
ABC isn’t going to hold back in The Good Doctor season 2 premiere, of course. They have plenty of confrontation, actual medicine and tension around Dr. Aaron Glassman’s cancer treatment in store for you. Here’s how they’re officially describing The Good Doctor season 2 episode 1:
Shaun’s proposed treatment for a homeless patient puts him and Jared in Andrews’ crosshairs; Claire tries to overcome Melendez’s reluctance to do a risky heart operation; Glassman must face a difficult decision about his health.
The Good Doctor season 2 trailer
Get a sneak peek of what the medical drama has in store for you tonight by watching The Good Doctor season 2 trailer below. There’s, of course, plenty of heart-stopping flat lines and an extended feature of Dr. Aaron Glassman played by Richard Schiff, best known as White House Communications Director Toby Ziegler on The West Wing. (Not to get your hopes up or anything, but Aaron Sorkin does have an idea for a reboot of the critically acclaimed series.)
The Good Doctor season 2 premiere date
As mentioned, The Good Doctor season 2 premiere airs tonight, Monday, September 24. Unlike some other medical drama, you’re not getting back-to-back episodes with this series’ return to the small screen. You’ll have to wait until next week for the second episode.
How to watch The Good Doctor season 2 premiere
If you have cable, just make sure your TV is on and you’re tuned into ABC tonight, September 24 at 10pm ET. Don’t expect them to hold back in the first few minutes while you get settled.
If you know you won’t be near a TV, or perhaps found yourself far from one unplanned, but have a cable subscription, you can tune in from your laptop, phone or tablet on ABC Go’s Watch Live page or through the ABC Go app. (The app is available through the iTunes Store, Google Play and Amazon.)
You can also catch The Good Doctor season 2 premiere through any streaming service that airs ABC content. That means you can use Hulu Live TV, but not your Sling TV or FuboTV accounts. If you’re not too concerned about seeing The Good Doctor season 2 episode 1 the second it airs, you can use your normal Hulu subscription to watch the episode a little later through the show’s landing page on the streaming service.
