Amber Alert canceled after missing Connecticut girl found safe; father in custody

The multi-state Amber Alert for Aylin Sofia Hernandez has been canceled as the 6-year-old girl was found safe, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. Her father, Oscar Hernandez, is in custody.

He is suspected of fatally stabbing the girl’s mother in her Bridgeport, Connecticut, home early Friday morning. A female friend of hers remains in critical condition after she was also attacked by Hernandez.

Police are searching for a missing 6-year-old girl believed to be with her father, who is a suspect in a fatal double stabbing in Connecticut, police said.

An Amber Alert for Aylin Sofia Hernandez of Bridgeport was issued early Friday morning, sending many New Yorkers’ phones buzzing with the emergency notification.

Her father, Oscar Hernandez, was last seen on Jennings Street in the Bronx around 4:30 a.m., according to data from his phone.

Police said Hernandez is believed to have stabbed two women at a home on Greenwood Street in Bridgeport just before 3 a.m., before he fled with his daughter.

One of the victims, who is thought to be the girl’s mother, died from her wounds, while the other, a family friend, remains in critical condition.

Hernandez and his daughter may be traveling in a four-door gray Hyundai Sonata sedan with a Connecticut license plate of AG91925. The child “may be in imminent danger,” authorities said.
