Ann Taylor is a brand built for the #GirlBoss. And for its latest campaign, the retailer, who has dressed powerful women for more than 60 years, is shouting out some modern-day trailblazers.
Over the coming months, it will spotlight various innovators who defy boundaries, starting with the hit Broadway musical “Waitress.” The show — which is based on the 2007 movie written and directed by the late filmmaker Adrienne Shelly — made history as the first all-female creative team on Broadway. Director Diane Paulus helms the production, Sara Bareilles wrote the score, Lorin Latarro created the choreography and Jessie Nelson wrote the book. Last week, Ann Taylor debuted interviews and black-and-white portraits with the show’s star Jessie Mueller and Paulus, both Tony winners.
“At Ann Taylor, we believe behind every great woman is another, and another,” said Holly Tedesco, the brand’s VP of marketing. “That spirit of collaboration is what brought ‘Waitress’ to life and shattered Broadway’s glass ceiling.” As part of the program, Ann Taylor will offer a 30 percent discount on select “Waitress” tickets to email subscribers. The brand will also make a donation to the Adrienne Shelly Foundation, which was created to support women filmmakers.
