“Bachelorette” fans are certainly not feeling the Bern.
Sander’s lengthy DNC speech Monday night cut into the ABC drama’s time slot, and loyal JoJo fans were not having it. Being forced to wait — especially on Fantasy Suite night, mind you— left loyal viewers devastated. Fans who DVR-ed the episode felt especially snubbed, since the show started 30 minutes late, the end of the episode was cut off.
Though the show’s fearless leader Chris Harrison tweeted out a warning (“Check local listings cause I’m guessing the #DNC will jack up #TheBachelorette time in many cities. Some things are even out of my control”), many viewers still felt wronged. Fans eager to watch JoJo gallivant through Tailand with her sexy suitors quickly discerned that the aged politician on their screens was not a Bachelorette plot twist (his lack of beard scruff and hair gel were dead giveaways), prompting national shock and outrage. Unknowingly, the senator set off a Twitter firestorm.
“I think Kanye needs to interrupt Bernie to let him know The Bachelorette is on tonight..” tweeted @manduuhstanford. Other users agreed that this was an injustice worth getting up in arms about. “Okay Bernie get off my tv I want to watch JoJo break down on the Bachelorette rn” fired off @morgopetrusha. Sorry Bernie, you don’t get the final rose.
