Actor William Shatner tweeted: “As Batgirl she was one of America’s sweethearts.”

Craig played the memorable green-skinned Orion slave girl Marta opposite Shatner’s Kirk in a 1968 episode of the original Star Trek television series.

Craig’s family announced Tuesday night that she had succumbed to her brave two-year battle against breast cancer.
Craig was 78.

Batman Adam West ‘deeply saddened’ by Batgirl Yvonne Craig’s death
Batman actor Adam West is mourning the death of actress Yvonne Craig, who played Batgirl alongside him and Burt Ward (Robin) on the iconic 1960s television series.
West, 86, took to social media to express his grief and post a touching picture of him and Craig taken on the set of the show.

“I was deeply saddened for us to lose Yvonne. It was too soon. She always brought humor and a fine attitude to our stage,” he recalled on Facebook.
“She was a joy to work with. A good person,” he continued,
“My heartfelt condolences to Yvonne’s family. We will miss her.”
