Andrew Zimmern checked out Boston’s booming food scene this week, but it doesn’t look like any bizarre meals were on the menu.
The “Bizarre Foods” host is in town filming episodes for his upcoming series “The Zimmern List,” which recently green lit by the Travel Channel and explores the people and cities behind the world’s top eats. According to Eater, Boston and Portland, Maine, will be the first two stops on the show, which will consist of 18 half-hour episodes.
After munching on New England’s favorite crustaceans at Five Islands Lobster Co. in Georgetown and other local favorites in Maine, Zimmern shipped down to Boston to experience the best that the Bay State has to offer.
According to Boston magazine, the 55-year-old chef stopped for a picnic in the North End before heading over to Cambridge for a bite at Clover in Central Square. Zimmern then tried Roxy’s fan-favorite grilled cheese and played some Skee-Ball at the popular A4cade bar and arcade.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Boston without a stop at Fenway Park. The travel and food guru got the chance to cheer on his Twins as they took on the Red Sox during Monday’s game.
Between filming “Bizarre Foods” and serving as an “entrepreneur-in-residence” at Babson College, Zimmern has spent a lot of time in Boston over the years, so it will be interesting to see what other local fare gets the spotlight on his latest show.
