The Boston Latin School has disciplined a student who shared messages deemed offensive on social media, the institution’s headmaster said this week.
The student posted racially insensitive remarks on Twitter, Headmaster Lynne Mooney Teta wrote in a letter to the school’s community on Tuesday.

The student, who has not been identified, posted using the hashtag #BlackatBLS, Teta wrote. Others have used the hashtag to share stories about brushes with racism in the school and express solidarity with one another. “BLS will not condone hateful, racially motivated incidents of any nature,” Teta wrote.
She did not specify the disciplinary actions taken against the student, and it’s not clear what was contained in the messages the student posted.

An internal Boston Public Schools investigation in February found the school did not respond properly to reports that a student used a racial slur directed at a female peer and “threatened her with a reference to lynching,” according to the Boston Globe.
