Top 10 books borrowed from the Boston Public Library in 2016

The Boston Public Library released its list of the top 10 most-borrowed books in 2016 and it includes some titles that debuted in 2015 along with a few oldies-but-goodies that have continued to be popular.

Three books from the 2015 most-borrowed list made a reappearance in 2016.

“The Girl on the Train,” which was turned into a motion picture this year starring Emily Blunt, was borrowed a total of 1,863 times in 2016.

“All the Light We Cannot See,” which was just under “The Girl on the Train” in 2015, swapped spots with the best seller this year, earning the number one title with a total of 1,898 people borrowing the book.

“The Boston Girl” was a top choice in 2015 as well, and showed up on this year’s list, butdropped from No. 3 to No. 9.

The super-popular “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series was represented in 2015 as well. This year, the sixth in the series landed on the list, a story of a blizzard trapping the main character, Greg Heffley, indoors with his family.

That was one of two children’s books on the list — the other being “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio.
