Winter may be coming, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a beach day in Boston’s Seaport.
IDBeach debuts at the Innovation and Design Building this weekend, offering all the amenities of a seaside getaway without having to leave the city. The indoor beach will set up shop at the Innovation and Design Building, complete with cabanas, umbrellas, palm trees and even an “ocean view.”
In honor of the new space, a series of events featuring food, drinks, music and more will take over IDBeach on Saturdays, beginning Nov. 11 with a “Kinda Cruise” Day party.
This weekend’s get together will pay homage to the many travellers who set sail from nearby Flynn Cruise Port with a day of “soothing yacht rock tunes” and games, according to a press release. The event will also feature all-you-can-eat oysters courtesy of East Boston Oysters and Chatham Shellfish Company for the first 100 tickets sold.
Following Saturday’s festivities, the fun returns on Nov. 18 with back-to-back film screenings of classics “Blue Crush” and “Point Break.” Dubbed the “Cereal Cinema Brunch Double Feature,” the event includes all-you-can-eat popcorn, candy and cereal, as well as a cash mimosa bar.
The beach bonanza continues on Saturday, Dec. 2, with a ’90s-themed beach party. Relive the era of “90210” and Nintendo 64 with throwback games, a cash bar, plus live ’90s music provided by Boston-based cover band The Unoriginals.
The indoor beach parties wrap up on Saturday, Dec. 16, with a free trivia night hosted by American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). The event will also feature a cash bar, as well as the chance to win special prizes.
All events are 21+ and cost $12 to attend, except for the AIGA trivia night.
