A Brooklyn man was stabbed to death Sunday morning in a Bed-Stuy apartment building, and police said the culprit was his girlfriend.
Police arrived on the scene at the Roosevelt Houses after receiving a call at about 3 a.m. When they entered, the victim, 33-year-old Ramel Patterson, was found in the hallway on the fifth floor, having allegedly been attacked by 31-year-old Octavia Elliott. Patterson was rushed to Kings County Hospital but was not able to be saved after suffering injuries to the neck and the arm, the New York Daily News reported.
Patterson’s mother, Patricia Scott, 49, told the Daily News of Elliott’s alleged history of mental illness, claiming that she failed to take medicine consistently despite the urging of her boyfriend. Elliott also has quite a rap sheet, having committed multiple assaults including smashing a man in the head with a bottle and stabbing the father of her child on two separate occasions, once with a screwdriver and another time with a knife, the Daily News said.
The assault occurred during an argument between the couple only one day after the victim’s mother pleaded with him to leave his girlfriend. Elliott now faces charges for criminal possession of a weapon and murder in the second degree.
