Two construction workers were injured Friday morning when the ceiling of a building near Grand Central Terminal partially collapsed.
One of the men suffered life-threatening injuries, the FDNY said.
The second-floor ceiling collapsed at the building, which is at East 42nd Street and Madison Avenue, at about 10:15 a.m., fire officials said. The injured workers, who were not identified, were taken to Bellevue Hospital. It’s not clear what caused the collapse.Fire and emergency responders had cleared the scene by noon.
A construction worker at the scene told a Metro reporter that the building had been slated for demolition. Authorities at the scene wouldn’t offer further information on the incident.
