City to hold moment of silence for Boston Marathon bombing victims

A moment of silence will be held in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings on the third anniversary of the attack, reports said.

The moment of silence, along with a blood drive, a wreath laying ceremony and other charitable efforts will be held in the city in celebration of One Boston Day.

Mayor Marty Walsh officially announced One Boston Day, which was first celebrated in 2015, would be permanently added to the city’s calendar on Monday, WCVB reported.

According to Walsh’s proclamation, One Boston Day will be a day to “lend a hand, greet our neighbors, care for each other, protect one another, and give back to the people and places of the city we love.”

The moment of silence will be observed Friday afternoon at 2:49 p.m. in Boston and other cities in Massachusetts.
