The North Dakota State Bison visit the South Dakota State Jackrabbits tonight at 8 p.m. ET at the Frost Arena in a Summit League matchup. This will be the first of two meetings between these conference foes this season.
North Dakota State is 9-11, 3-3 in the conference and they are coming off a 67-65 win over North Dakota. Junior forward Deng Geu led the team with 15 points on 6-11 shooting.
Geu leads the team in scoring with 11.9 PPG while shooting an outstanding 58.8% from the field and 43.5% from behind the arc. What’s been impressive the most about Geu this season is that in 20 games, he hasn’t started once. He’s been able to put up these impressive numbers consistently while coming off the bench.
Tonight’s matchup with the Jackrabbits will be the Bison’s first game of a four-game road trip. So far this season, North Dakota State has been dreadful on the road. They are an abysmal 0-7 away from home.
On the other hand, South Dakota State is having a pretty successful season. The Jackrabbits are 15-6 overall and 5-1 in the conference. They are in the midst of a four-game winning streak and are an impressive 8-1 at home this season.
South Dakota State is tied for first in the Summit League with Omaha and a big reason is the success of their two star players: senior Mike Daum and sophomore David Jenkins. Daum leads the Summit League in scoring with 24.2 PPG while shooting an incredible 50.9% from the field. Jenkins is right behind Daum in the standings with 19.6 PPG on 47.9% shooting.
The Jackrabbits are the best scoring team in the Summit League. They are ranked first in the conference with their astonishing 50.4% field goal percentage while scoring 84.7 PPG. They also distribute the basketball at a very high level. They average 14.5 assists per game which is second in the conference.
