The Longwood Lancers host the Radford Highlanders tonight in a Big South Conference showdown at 7 p.m. ET at Willett Hall. This is the second and final meeting between the two teams this regular season.
They last met on Jan. 5 where the Highlanders beat the Lancers by the final score of 71-64.
Radford is currently on a six-game winning streak which is their longest of the season. The Highlanders have a 13-6 record and are 5-0 in the conference which has them ranked first in the Big South.
The Highlanders have been exceptional at home this season but have been playing mediocre basketball on the road. Radford is 8-0 at home and just .500 on the road with a 5-5 record.
One of Radford’s strengths is that they shoot the basketball at a high level. The Highlanders are third in the conference, shooting 46.8% from the field and are first in three-point percentage, shooting 39.7%.
Longwood is 12-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. Their subpar conference record has them just eighth in the Big South.
They are coming off a 71-64 loss to Presbyterian this past Saturday, Jan. 19.
The Lancers have been phenomenal at home this season. They are 7-1 when they play in front of the Longwood faithful. Their only home loss came back on Jan. 12 against Charleston Southern, a 101-91 setback.
Although they don’t have the best conference record, they are one of the best defensive teams in the Big South. The Lancers hold their opponents to just 39% shooting from the field, which ranks them first in the conference. They also hold their opponents to 31.5% shooting from behind the arc.
Tonight’s Big South Conference clash between the Radford Highlanders and the Longwood Lancers will be featured on ESPN+. Radford has an opportunity to remain undefeated in the conference meanwhile Longwood has a chance to get back to .500 in conference play. Tune in to see who will come out on top!
