The No. 5 Quinnipiac Bobcats visit the No. 10 Clarkson Golden Knights in an Eastern College Athletic Conference showdown tonight at 7 p.m. ET at the Cheel Arena. Tonight’s contest will be the first of two matchups this season.
Quinnipiac is tied with Dartmouth for third place in the ECAC with 15 points apiece. The Bobcats are 18-5-1 with a 7-4-1 conference record and are coming off back-to-back wins against non-conference opponents.
Senior defensemen Chase Priskie leads the Bobcats with 13 goals this season and is tied with Princeton’s Ryan Kuffner for the conference lead.
One of Quinnipiac’s strengths this season has been their power play; they are second in the ECAC with a 28.1% success rate, they trail Harvard who has a 35.9% power play percentage.
The Bobcats power play will be put to the test tonight because Clarkson is second in the conference in penalty kill percentage. They have an 85.1% success rate; they trail Quinnipiac who has a penalty kill percentage of 86.6%.
Clarkson is tied with Harvard for second in the ECAC with 16 points. The Golden Knights are 17-7-0, 8-4-0 in the conference and are coming off a 2-0 win over Dartmouth on Jan. 26.
The Golden Knights will have the advantage tonight at home where they are 9-1-0 on the season.
Tonight’s contest is going to be a hard fought game since both teams are pretty much even heading into this matchup. Clarkson and Quinnipiac are ranked one and two in a bunch of categories. They are neck-and-neck in goals, assists, penalty kill percentage, goals per game, goals against average, and save percentage.
