Crunch Time: Barstool Sports banned from Super Bowl, Ronda Rousey to retire?

Barstoolsports.com got their media credentials pulled by the NFL and the popular website won’t be allowed to promote itself on Radio Row during Super Bowl week. The NFL likely took these measures because the site’s founder, Patriots fan David “El Prez” Portnoy, once organized an anti-Roger Goodell protest at the NFL’s offices in New York (he was arrested for it) and the site has been shredding the NFL commish since the beginning of the Deflategate drama. Still, one of the website’s writers, PFT Commenter, snuck into Super Bowl opening night and asked Bill Belichick a question. As for Portnoy – In response his credentials being pulled, he tweeted out Tuesday, “You know who else banned the media who opposed him? Hitler.”

Barkley vs. ‘Bron

Getting into a war of words with Charles Barkley typically ends poorly for the guy not named Charles Barkley. That didn’t stop LeBron James from going after Barkley hard this week.

“I’m not going to let [Barkley] disrespect my legacy like that,” LeBron said to ESPN after Barkley called him “whiny,” among other things, on TNT. “I’m not the one who threw somebody through a window. I never spit on a kid. I never had unpaid debt in Las Vegas. I never said, ‘I’m not a role model.’ I never showed up to All-Star Weekend on Sunday because I was in Vegas all weekend partying.”

Longtime Barkley-hater and former NBA bad ass Charles Oakley joined in on the Chuck bashing Tuesday.

“I love everything LeBron James said about the hater,” Oakley tweeted. “[Barkley] needs to stop drinking at work. TNT, can I stop by and get a drink?”

A Ronda retirement?

It’s hard to recall a more precipitous fall for an athlete than the one UFC fighter Ronda Rousey has endured. Rousey looked downright Tyson-esque in the first 12 fights of her career and had six consecutive title defenses. But she was KO’d via a head kick in November 2015 by Holly Holm and then was pummeled by Amanda Nunes this past December. Now, UFC’s most recognizable female fighter might be done at the age of 29.

“In the conversation I had with her, if I had to say right here, right now – and I don’t like saying right here, right now because it’s up to her, it’s her thing – but I wouldn’t say she fights again,” UFC president Dana White told UFC Unfiltered. “I think she’s probably done.”
