“Star Wars” fans rejoice! Disney has just released the first photos of “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” a new “Star Wars” theme park opening at Disneyland, during a special preview event at the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ “A Galaxy of Stories” pavilion at the D23 Expo 2017.
During a news conference, Walt Disney chairman Bob Chapek revealed the official name of the “Star Wars” land and showed a model of what the 14-acre “Star Wars”-themed park will look like when it opens at Disneyland.
Aside from models of the “Star Wars” world, the pavilion also features “Star Wars” artwork, spacecraft and other exhibits to give guests a first-look experience of what’s to come when they visit the new “Star Wars” planet.
The “Star Wars” theme park is being designed to give fans a jaw-dropping experience. Guests will have the opportunity to explore a never-before-seen world and interact with creatures and droids from the movie franchise.
“All along, we have said this will be game changing, and through the model, we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be,” Chapek said in a press release.
The “Star Wars”-themed park will feature two main attractions – one that gives guests the chance to be the pilot of the Millennium Falcon and participate in a secret mission, and another that puts guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
The “Star Wars”-themed planet will open to guests in 2019.
