Twitter taught Donald Trump Jr. a lesson on Halloween on Tuesday.
The president’s eldest son was trying to teach his young daughter a lesson in socialism, but we’ll just say that lesson backfired. Miraculously.
“I’m going to take half of Chloe’s candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It’s never to early to teach her about socialism,” he tweeted.

The 6:53 p.m. post was paured with a photo of his young daughter and what was likely her haul of Halloween candy-post trick-or-treating. Chloe was dressed as a police officer.
Within hours his post had more than 72,000 comments, mainly from people who wanted to school Trump Jr. on socialism, Halloween and the difference between “to” and “too.”
“As a teacher, I can’t help but say that this is wrong on so many levels. Gosh how is this even possible to brag about on Twitter?” tweeted @maelagam.

Clearly, people had a problem using children tot make political points, also Trump Jr. spelled “too” wrong while trying to teach a lesson, so there’s that.
Then there’s Trump Jr.’s definition of socialism.
Rather than socialism — a political system is defined by the government controlling the means of production and the distribution of goods and services — it appears Trump Jr. was actually talking about good old-fashioned sharing.
“Imagine thinking that teaching your child to share is bad,” tweeted @Hermit_Hwarang.

I think sharing with those that are less fortunate than you is a universal human value. Perhaps you could try her that.

Trump Jr. seems to be trying to make some point about high taxes on the rich to share their wealth with the poor, but our own capitalist system already depends on the wealthy subsidizing the poor by way of the graduated income tax — something Twitter users were also all too quick to point out.
“My man, “socialism” was her getting that free candy in the first place. You taking half for reasons she can’t understand is capitalism,” @Bearpigman tweeted.

And that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Your kid went begging from hard-working people for candy. The kid who stayed home got theirs because their parents worked to pay for it.
In your simile, if anyone’s the socialist it’s Chloe. https://t.co/GNT6viB524— Nick Pettigrew (@Nick_Pettigrew) November 1, 2017
Take 80% of her candy and give it to the top 1% of trick or treaters. You know like your dads’ tax plan.

She was given candy for free.
You inherited all your money.
You met with Russian spies.
It’s “too”. https://t.co/Bsf5wkQxST— Zach Braff (@zachbraff) November 1, 2017
Better idea: have her take out loans, use the money to buy and eat candy, then default and declare bankruptcy. That’s the Trump way. https://t.co/juVD1FMq2o

Why don’t you take a third of it and give it all to people who already have billions of pieces of candy
