Donald Trump said in the first of those highly entertaining Republican debates last year that he had given money to almost all of the GOP candidates on the dais.
One man who has given just as much or more to high-ranking politicians on the right is Jets owner Woody Johnson – who made his fortune by being a trust-fund great, great grand-babyof the original owner of Johnson & Johnson (the Band-Aid and Tylenol people). Johnson has given millions to GOP candidates over the years and has held fundraisers for the Republican National Committee at his home in Manhattan.
In this particularelection cycle, he has backed Jeb Bush … in fact, Johnson is the National Finance Chairman for Bush’s campaign.
Johnson’s Jets missed out on this year’s NFL playoffs Sunday when they fell to Rex Ryan’s Bills, 22-17, Sundayin Orchard Park, New York. And of course, Trump weighed in.
“Woody Johnson, owner of the NYJets, is @JebBush’sfinance chairman. If Woody would’ve been w/ me, he would’ve been in the playoffs, at least!”
