The excitement of Santa, his elves and the presents they make at the North Pole can be pretty all consuming this time of year. Pre-school temple instructor and mother of two Abra Liberman-Garrett is attempting to change all that with her “Maccabee on the Mantel” doll, who comes with a storybook that teaches children about the origins of Hanukkah. “Hanukkah is a really cool holiday. The story is about facing insurmountable odds, fighting for your rights and believing in yourself,” Linberman-Garrett says in a press release.
Unlike “Elf on the Shelf,” kids can touch the “Maccabee on the Mantel” doll and even sleep with it, as he does not get into mischief during the night, unlike the elf.
