For Boston-based consulting firm Bain & Company, it’s easy being No. 1 — or at least they make it look easy.
Bain & Company took the top slot on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work in the nation list for 2017. The company, which boasts more than 53 offices in 34 countries in headquartered in Boston, has made the list every year since it was created nine years ago. This is the third time it has taken the top spot. Glassdoor, an online jobs and recruiting marketplace, ranks the top 50 employers in the country based solely on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback, by completing a company review about their job, work environment and employer over the past year. “Being named the No. 1 place to work by Glassdoor is really exciting for us. The things that Glassdoor are the things we value — that our teams are supported, that we have impact, that we create an environment where people want to come to work and can individually create a career that works for them,” Jane Gonnerman, partner, said. The 50 Best Places to Work list honors companies with 1,000 or more employees, while a second list, the 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work For, honors companies with less than 1,000 employees. “Company culture and the employee experience are critical considerations for job seekers everywhere when deciding where to work. To help, the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards recognize companies that truly stand out as Best Places to Work because they’re purely determined by the authentic voice of those who really know a company best — the employees,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor CEO and co-founder. Bain employees said it’s the company culture that helps make keep them satisfied in the careers.
“I think Bain is the best place where you could possibly start your career and it’s not just because of the amazing work that we do, but because of this environment of continuous skill building and relationship building that goes on but also lasts a lifetime,” Chris Kauffmann, senior associate consultant, said. Three other Boston-based companies made the list this year, too.
