We were lucky this year, we watched some amazing movies. Sometimes producers and directors can miss the mark throughout the year, but this year was a hit. We will all be sitting on the edge of our seats until the Oscar winners are annouced. After the death of his father, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) must return to his home nation of Wakanda in order to assume the throne. However, when a powerful enemy emerges, T’Challa must release the full power of the Black Panther in order to protect the world and his home.

BlacKkKlansman

Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African American police officer in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Stallworth (Washington) goes undercover with a Jewish colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), in order to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan branch. Based on a true story.

Bohemian Rhapsody

The true story following the band, Queen and lead singer, Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) until their last performance at Live Aid. Freddie Mercury went from being outcast immigrant to becoming one of the world’s best artists.

The Favourite

In the early 18th century, England is at war with the French, but Queen Anne (Olivia Coleman) is obsessed with her rabbits. While she dotes over her pets, her confidant and advisor Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz) is the one running the country. When a new servant, Abigail (Emma Stone), arrives and wins the Queen’s affection, it is a desperate battle for attention between Lady Sarah and Abigail.

Green Book

Tony “Tony Lip” Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) a tough Italian bouncer, becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist, Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), who is on a tour of venues. Armed with The Negro Motorist Green Book, the two journey through the 1960’s American South.

Roma

This 2019 Oscar Nominations film takes place in 1970 and 1971, primarily in the Colonia Roma neighborhood of Mexico City. We follow a year in the life of Cleo, a middle class family’s maid.

A Star Is Born

Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) is a struggling country artist who discovers and falls in love with singer Ally (Lady Gaga). As he coaxes her into the spotlight, and Ally’s career takes off, the couple’s relationship breaks down due to Jack’s battle with his alcohol and drug addiction.

Vice

The story of Dick Cheney (Christian Bale) after Texas Governor George W. Bush (Sam Rockwell) picks him to be his Republican running mate in the 2000 presidential election. Once Governor Bush wins, Cheney begins to use his power to shape the country and the world.
