Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky might seem like a random, mismatched couple on the surface but — wait no. There is not “but” to speak of.
Nonetheless, the couple behind this year’s most confusing film, “mother!” make a great pair. At least, that’s what co-star Javier Bardem says. In fact, he’s noticed some striking similarities between the 27-year-old and the 48-year-old.
“Creatively speaking, both are very willing to go as deep as is necessary without being contaminated by it,” he told the New York Times. “To create means to go from a place of neutrality to a place of imagination, where you build up something that didn’t exist, and then go back to neutrality. “Both are able to do that, which makes the experience much more pleasant.” Don’t know what that means, but OK!
Aronofsky himself elaborated, saying “Our relationship didn’t start until after the film happened,” he said. “You know, we just had a great time together, and that’s it.”
Ah yes. They had a good time shooting a parable-slash-psychological-thriller with much too little Michelle Pfeiffer.
Later, Aronofsky secretly gushed, “It’s always fun to be in a room with Jen. She’s hilarious and real and truthful.” Aw.
Looks like this one’s for life! Which is not that long in Hollywood years. But whatever. I’m rooting for them, man!
