The 2019 Oscars nominations were announced and the full list is in.
The 91st Academy Awards nominations were revealed by Tracee Ellis Ross and Kumail Nanjiani in Los Angeles Tuesday morning at the Samuel Goldwin Theater in Los Angeles.
The Netflix film Roma and the drama/comedy The Favourite both have 10 nominations this year.
According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, anywhere from five to 10 films can be nominated for the Best Picture category. This year’s nominees for best picture include Roma, The Favourite, Black Panther, A Star Is Born, Vice, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book and Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman.
Oscars 2019 host
The academy has not named a host for the 2019 Oscars. Comedian and actor Kevin Hart was set to host the 2019 Oscars but stepped down after receiving backlash for older tweets in which he made transphobic and homophobic remarks.
This is the first time since 1989 that the Academy Awards are moving forward without a host. In 1989, the Oscars started with a musical performance featuring Rob Lowe and Snow White.
