In this week’s episode of The Bachelor season 23, there are pirate shenanigans, a bunch of cute kids going on roller coasters and a heaping helping of some Miss USA drama. After last week, we were expecting Demi to continue her villainous ways, and she does indeed come through on that front, but the personal issues between former beauty pageant besties, Hannah B. and Caelynn, end up taking center stage. After the episode was finished, we couldn’t help but wonder: Who exactly is the real villain this season? Here are the best highlights from The Bachelor season 23, episode 3.
Colton takes The Bachelor season 23 ladies on a swashbuckling group date
The first group date this week took Colton and the ladies to the high seas, where they did their best to channel their inner Jack Sparrow. Each contestant took turns battling each other on the fake ship’s support beam, swinging foam swords at each other … all in good fun. After the sparring was done, Caelynn ended up rescuing Captain Colton in the evening’s live pirate show — and got a kiss as her prize. Of course, this didn’t bode well with fellow beauty queen Hannah B., who takes it upon herself to confront Colton moments later to explain just how evil Caelynn is. Instead of convincing him to take her side against her pageant rival, though, this conversation inspires Colton to have a heart-to-heart with Caelynn — which prompts him to give her the first rose of the episode. Needless to say, Hannah B. was not happy.
Elyse and Colton live the roller coaster life on The Bachelor season 23, episode 3
For their one-on-one date, Elyse and Colton took a helicopter ride from Los Angeles to San Diego, where the two spent the day at Belmont Park. After arriving, Colton dropped a bombshell that this was actually going to be a group date, and for a second, you could see the heavy disappointment on Elyse’s face. But this was no ordinary group date — around the corner came a bunch of disabled children and suddenly, the day took on a whole new life. Elyse was touched by Colton’s compassion and the two spent the day laughing on rides, serving candy and ice cream to the kids, and in the end, Elyse saw a different side of the former NFL star. If that wasn’t enough to make this an epic date, the two ended their day in a packed theater as Tenille Arts performed a private concert just for them. Elyse got the second rose of the episode and if she wasn’t smitten before this one-on-one date, you best believe she’s definitely falling for our man Colton now.
Who’s The Bachelor season 23’s strongest woman? Terry and Rebecca Crews have the answer
After the next group date rolled up on a gym to see shirtless Colton throwing ropes, they were met with Terry Crews and his wife Rebecca, who announce they’ve been married 29 years — and that marriage is work. It’s an interesting intro to a sequence of exercises and stretching routines for the ladies. But it’s not long before they move outside next to Downtown L.A.’s train tracks, where the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and his wife host a strong woman competition. With Fred Willard joining Chris Harrison on the sidelines to color commentate, the women were put through a series of physical tests, from tire-flipping to limo-pulling, and after everything, Onyeka was crowned the winner.
The drama between Hannah B. and Caelynn escalate and Colton is having none of it
Doing his best to lighten the mood in the house, Colton canceled the cocktail party and, instead, kicked it with the ladies by the pool. However, the issues between Hannah B. and Caelynn didn’t go away. And it was only making our bachelor more and more confused. Caelynn took him aside and told him her side of the story, which basically mirrored Hannah’s warning of Caelynn. Each woman thinks the other is toxic, fake and manipulative which ended up putting Colton in a tight spot — you can tell he likes them both and really doesn’t know which side to take. Should he even take sides? Sometimes people hate other people and getting stuck in the middle of the drama is never a good decision to make. But this is The Bachelor … and this drama isn’t going to get in the middle of itself.
Who was sent home from The Bachelor season 23 last night?
After a whole bunch of setup, Hannah B. got the last rose during the rose ceremony. You’d think she’d be thrilled but, as she spoke to the camera, she broke down in tears. This pageant drama isn’t going anywhere, that’s for sure. Four more women were sent home in Monday’s episode. Bri, Catherine, and Nina ended up being eliminated in the rose ceremony, while, earlier in the episode, Colton sent Caitlin home during the episode’s second group date.
With a trip to Singapore in the cards for next week, you can be sure there’ll be more beauty queen drama in the cards. And it seems that Demi … is still being Demi. From the looks of things, The Bachelor season 23 craziness will follow Colton halfway across the world. If anything, things are sure to get interesting.
The Bachelor season 23 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
