The trailer for Netflix’s latest Marvel Cinematic Universe endeavor — “The Punisher” — is out and it’s just about as trigger happy as you can imagine.
Which of course is the point. The Punisher — aka Frank Castle — showed up in the second season of Netflix’s “Daredevil,” and now, in his own series, he’s back to being a one-man-vigilante against crime, using all sorts of violence and advanced weaponry to get his way.
Played by “The Walking Dead” alum Jon Bernthal, the Punisher is set to exact revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children. Of course, he uncovers a deep rooted conspiracy “that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld,” according to Netflix. As you do.
And sure, he may be the only mortal of Netflix’s Marvel roster, but we’re guessing — based on the body count in the trailer alone — his talent for killing people with no remorse goes beyond.
Although an exact release date hasn’t been given, “The Punisher” will premiere later this year. The series will include appearances from Jason R. Moore, Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Bring on the revenge arcs, Netflix. Bring ’em.
