When does The Affair return? The Showtime series, which premiered in 2012, explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship between Noah (Dominic West) — a New York City schoolteacher and budding novelist and Alison (Ruth Wilson) — a young waitress piecing her life together in the wake of a tragedy. The titular affair destroys both of their marriages against a beautiful backdrop of Montauk — but a crime brings the four of them back together. The series also stars Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson as Cole and ER actress Maura Tierney as Helen.
Although the series started by showing the two different perspectives of the affair, it’s evolved into more of an ensemble piece, focusing on the perspectives of Noah, Alison, Cole and Helen.

The Affair Season 4 Premiere Date
The fourth season of The Affair will premiere on Showtime June 17 at 9 p.m. The Affair Season 4 will find Noah, Helen, Alison and Ruth in their own orbits, very much alienated from one another. Per a press release from Showtime:
Every character is involved in a new relationship, forcing them each to decide if they’re ready and willing to leave the past behind for good – a season about new beginnings, tragic ends and the ever-elusive possibility of forgiveness. Sanaa Lathan joins season four as Jenelle, the tough-as-nails principal of the charter school where Noah teaches. Ramon Rodriguez stars as Ben, a Marine veteran now employed by the VHA and Alison’s new love interest.
