Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s original Amazon series took critics and audiences by storm when it premiered in early 2017. Just over a year, several Golden Globe wins and countless more Emmy nominations later, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 is coming soon.
The first trailer for the show’s return dropped last week, and while it doesn’t give any hints about what Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) is up to, it does offer fans good deal of teasing. The young divorced comic’s star is on the rise, and along with fellow comedian Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 will hopefully see her make leaps and bounds.

Midge and Susie are going to the famous “Borscht Belt”
According to the trailer, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 will see the former housewife turned single mother trying her best to do right by her family and herself. The latter involves a trip to the famous “Borscht Belt,” a string of hotels and spas in the Catskills Mountains where stand-up comedians perfected their routines throughout the ‘40s and ‘50s.
A trip to Paris is also in the works
As Sherman-Palladino and her producing partner and husband, Dan Palladino, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 will also see Midge take a trip to Paris. The pair didn’t say much regarding what, if anything, the European excursion would entail. Though they did say “misadventures” would ensue.
The show will see a “seismic shift”
In a recent interview with The A.V. Club, actor Tony Shalhoub, who plays Midge’s father, Abraham “Abe” Weissman, described the second season as bearing witness to a “seismic shift” culturally. “We’re also moving out of the late ‘50s into the ‘60s,” he said, “so the country and the culture at large is going through a sort of seismic shift, especially for women, but also politically.”

In addition to Brosnahan, Borstein and Shalhoub, the series also stars Marin Hinkle and Michael Zegen. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 has cast Shazam! star Zachary Levi in a recurring role as an “eclectic Manhattan doctor” according to Variety.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 doesn’t have an official release date yet, but will be “coming soon” according to the trailer. We’ll update this page with the premiere date when it’s available.
Will there be The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3?
When Amazon ordered The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from Sherman-Palladino, they granted it a two-season order. As a result, the creation and eventual arrival of a second foray into the adventures of young Midge was a given. So too, as it turns out, is a third season, which Amazon ordered in May after the show received a Peabody Award. “You’re going to give it to us because we’re bringing home the fancy thing, right?” Sherman-Palladino joked at the ceremony.
