The Northeast hasn’t had a new theme park in decades, but all that will change with the arrival of Legoland New York in Spring 2020.
Located in upstate New York, the $350 million theme park will be the largest of Merlin Entertainments’ nine Legoland parks located all over the world, with eight playlands spread over 150 acres featuring family-friendly rides, larger-than-life Lego sculptures and live performances.

Where is Legoland New York?
Legoland New York will be located about 60 miles northwest of New York City in the town of Goshen. That’s about two hours by car from the heart of the city, or you’ll be able to take a direct bus via ShortLine Coach USA from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
When will Legoland New York open?
Scheduled to open in Spring 2020, Legoland New York will be a seasonal park open from April until November. Admission prices have not yet been announced.
The adjacent Legoland Hotel will be open year-round, with 250 rooms themed to popular Lego sets. The resort will have its own Castle play area and nightly entertainment for kids. “The Legoland Hotel is an experience in itself,” according to Legoland rep Matt Besterman.
How old should kids be for Legoland New York?
Legoland New York is meant for a younger audience, specifically for families with kids 12 and under. “For those who may only be familiar with our indoor Legoland Discovery Centers, a Legoland Park is on a different scale altogether,” says Besterman. “This 150-acre theme park is a multi-day experience with more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, all designed for kids ages 2-12 and their families.”
What’s at Legoland New York?
Eight areas themed to iconic Lego sets will make up Legoland New York. The entire site will be spread over 150 acres, but the total area of Legoland spans 500 acres. “We really want our guests to feel like they’re in a park within a park,” says Julie Estrada, head of PR for North America at Merlin Entertainments.
Here are the eight lands of Legoland New York:
The Factory: Walk through a Lego arch into the first land, into a world made of Lego bricks. The all-new Great Lego Adventure ride will take visitors through the manufacturing process as if they were a Lego Minifigure, then get packaged and delivered to a child ready to build.
Bricktopia: Described as “the land with no rules,” here’s where you’ll get a chance to join Master Builders to make your own Lego creations. The Imagination Celebration ride is Lego’s take on the spinning teacups, or get on the Stepping Tones to make your own soundtrack.
Ninjago World: Enter the Training Camp playground to start mastering the art of Spinjitzu, then help defeat the Great Devourer on Ninjago: The Ride, a 4D adventure.
Heartlake City: Meet up with your Lego Friends on the outdoor stage, then take a ride in a balloon over Pinefall Woods or a turn on the carousel. This is also where you’ll find Legoland’s signature Granny’s Apple Fries.
Knights’ Kingdom: Step into a life-size Lego Castle with knights, princesses, wizards and a Dragon Coaster “perfectly sized to give kids their first roller coaster experience.”
Lego City: Learn to be a firefighter at Rescue Academy, or hone your street skills at Lego Driving School, plus restaurants, and theater and more of the best of city life.
Pirate Shores: Hope you like life at sea because there are two boat rides in this pirate-themed land: the Rogue Wave Riders where you do battle with water cannons and Anchors Aweigh, a giant ship that swings and spins.
Miniland: Feel like a giant in the land of the Minifigures! Walk among a massive interactive display of attractions from all over the country gathered in one place, with interactive features and moving parts, even a working subway! (Hold your jokes, please.)
