Escape the city for the weekend without going too far this weekend with the 2018 Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival.
See some of the world’s best sand sculptors, who will put their amazing skills on full display. Last year’s festival drew a million attendees, and this year’s is sure to be no less successful. The festival brings together more than 20 expert sand sculptors from as far away as Russia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Sweden to compete for the grand prize.
Their creations, made from just sand and water, will no doubt impress. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Literacy,” so sculptors will honor the history and power of children’s literature with their works. The festival will feature sand-sculpting lessons and amusement-park rides for the kids. Food trucks and local vendors will sell their wares and distribute free samples, and live entertainment will enhance your experience. The whole extravaganza will end with a dazzling fireworks display on Saturday night.
To get to Revere, take the Blue Line to Revere Beach or Wonderland. If you drive, there’s parking at the Wonderland Garage.
