For the first time in what seems like an entire season of football, the majority of Week 10’s most critical player injuries were not to skill players — but instead on defense or the offensive line. Still, there are a handful of really important names with an unknown status early in the weekly NFL cycle heading into next week. Here’s a brief look at some of these key players and how things currently stand after the latest updates were made: Alshon Jeffery, Bears
In some late-breaking and shocking news, the NFL announced Bears receiving stud AlshonJeffery was suspended for four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He has averaged 70 yards per game — the worst of his career and will likely appeal the ruling. However in the mean time, look atCameron Meredith or Eddie Royal as waiver pick ups. Jordan Howard, Bears
The Bears continue to get unlucky breaks, and thepossible Achilles tendon injury suffered by running back Howard is one that particularly stings. Suffered in a loss to the Buccaneers this Sunday, there’s a good chance he’ll miss considerable time. Chicago backsJeremy Langford and Ka’Deem Carey are important handcuffs as the injury news continues to unfold.
Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals
The legendary Arizona pass catcher was targeted 18 times Sunday — the most in five seasons — and is reportedly very sore and at age 33, it could be an issue as the season continues. However, Bruce Arians and Fitz himself are confident he’ll practice and play in Week 11. “This is [Week 10] in the National Football League,” Fitzgerald said.”Everybody is dealing with something. You tape it up.”
Thomas Rawls, Seahawks
The Seahawks are coming off a huge ain against the Patriots Sunday night and could get some reinforcements to help their inconsistent running attack. Pete Carroll had good news regarding his running back Rawls Monday. “Thomas is ready to go,” Carroll said, via ESPN.com’s Sheil Kapadia. “He’s going to practice to play this week.”
If he appears in the Week 11 game at home against Philly he’ll likely split carries with Christine Michael andC.J. Prosise.
Sammy Watkins, Bills
Buffalo’s star wideout has not played in a game since Week 3 and though his injured foot appears to be nearing game-ready health, Rex Ryan is not taking any chances or risking reinjury.
“Sammy feels fantastic but we’re gonna be smart with this and we’ll do what’s best for him, obviously,” Ryan said.
Check back later in the week for more news, tips, advice and injury updates.
