There were a lot of costly injuries to fantasy football teams Sunday, as well as to their actual flesh and blood NFL teams as several players left their respective games in Week 2.

The situation is always fluid, but here’s a look at some of the key setbacks, and an outlook for Week 3:

Adrian Peterson

One of the NFL’s all-time best rushers hurt his knee and did not return in a Minnesota win against the Packers Sunday night. According to Peterson’s wife, the running back is already up and walking fluidly and pending an MRI Monday he should be back relatively soon.

In the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt to handcuff by picking up one of Peterson’s backups —Matt Asiata or rookieJerick McKinnon. Both were used Sunday night but Asiata could be a better goal line option as a seasoned NFL veteran.

Jonathan Stewart

J-Stew, the Panthers’ perenial1,000 yard rusher, left Sunday’s win with a hamstring injury. The hammy is a lingering injury that is sometimes hard to quickly shake, andRon Rivera told reporters the injury should keep him out at least a week or two.

Fozzy Whittaker is the next man up, but his workload will depend a lot on how things play out as Carolina faces the Vikings next Sunday afternoon.

Thomas Rawls

The Seahawks decided Rawls would be the starter in Week 2, but things didn’t go well in an upset loss to the Rams. The running back left the game with a leg injury leaving the RB duties to Christine Michael, the Week 1 starter.

“He got kicked in the lower leg,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “He’s got a contusion, but the X-rays were fine, so he’s just going to be sore and he’s got to come back from that.”

If you have Michael, good, he’ll get a lot more work in Week 3 against the 49ers.

Danny Woodhead

Reports came back Monday afternoon that Woodhead was out for the season with a torn ACL. No sense in hanging on to him, feel free to drop in any leagie without IR room and keepers.

Going all-in on Melvin Gordon, who had a big game in Week 2, is a good idea.

Doug Martin

The Buc’s running back has a hamstring injury that Martin himself is calling a “slight tweak.” His status for Week 3 will likely be a gametime decision.

In the mean time, scour for Charles Sims on the waiver wire. Even if Martin plays, hamstrings can linger and return and Sims is among the NFL’s top backups.

Ameer Abdullah

Abdullah injured his foot Sunday and according to sources was walking with a noticable limp. That makes the outlook sound pretty bad.

Theo Riddick, already having a bit of a breakout year, will become even more valuable in his absence.

Arian Foster

Going into things, everyone knew there would be some injury pains with the Dolphins running back. Butaccording to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team “does not think [the] injury is overly serious.” Foster hurt his hamstring early Sunday and only ran for 9 yards.

Jay Ajayi might be worth at look if he’s available on waivers.
