If I am wavering on where to go, I usually wind up with a large order of mozzarella sticks or potato skins and a pint of Guinness. The world just seems a bit happier at an Irish pub.

Jameson’s
975 Second Ave.

The antique old-world pub atmosphere is reminiscent of Ireland. The menu is always reasonable and includes Irish favorites and sports specials. Daily from 3-8 p.m. relax with $4 domestic beers and $5 imported beers and well drinks. Weekend brunch includes one free beverage — get the brunch burger ($12.95), which includes a fried egg and bacon.

Keats
842 Second Ave.

Daily from 4-7 p.m. save with $3 drafts, $5 well and wine, and $6 martinis and Cosmos. After 7 p.m. they offer additional daily specials, as well as burger and beer deals. They are a mix of an Irish pub and a rocking karaoke bar. Get ready to sing because the crowd will cheer you on. If performing makes you nervous, don’t be, Keats creates a laid-back karaoke experience with no cover charge and no song fees.

Dempsey’s Pub

Check out this new spot for an upscale Irish pub experience, with traditional music on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. The menu is casual, with savings from 4-7 p.m. through the week like $2 off drinks and $15 buckets (five bottles) daily. Order the buffalo fries ($6) and be ready to share. It’s the kind of place where you can spend an afternoon in the blink of an eye. The spacious layout with plenty of TVs is perfect for game days.
