For the not-basic bride: Christian Siriano’s debut bridal collection

Designer and reality TV darling Christian Siriano cut his teeth creating bridal gowns before dazzling us with his sassy quips and larger-than-life glamour on “Project Runway.” The 30-year-old, who counts Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez as fans, and has been creating one-of-a kind bridal gowns for friends and customers by request, recently launched an official collection for Kleinfeld Bridal. The 27-piece line ranges from $3,000 to $19,000 and is available in sizes from petite to plus. We caught up with Siriano before his debut runway show. Click through for all the looks.

What’s a bridal trend that drives you crazy?
I’m not a huge fan of the overly sexy bride. You can be really sexy and beautiful and still be covered. I’ve also never been a big fan of mesh cut outs everywhere — I think that’s weird for a wedding when grandma’s there.

Who’s wedding wowed you?
I was a huge fan of when Gwen Stefani got married because I loved her ombré dress. There are some dresses that just stick in your mind.

What’s your current favorite look for a bride?
We have a suit in the collection that is actually my favorite piece. Even though we have lots of ball gowns — and I love that — but I really like the suit a lot.

Do you think brides should change after a ceremony?
I like a party dress. They should do first dance in their dress and then change to get wild.
