Now that we’ve shed our winter coats and replaced it all with Lilly Pulitzer’s Target collection, spend this weekend discovering some local music ahead of festival season. We found some great small venues that also have deals on drinks and food. You’ll find tremendous live music seven days a week and never a cover charge at this Upper West Side lounge. They book everything from folk musicians to jazz band and country singers. From 4-7 p.m. daily enjoy $4 drafts, $5 well and frozen drinks, and $6 wines. If you’re hungry, order the $4 mini cheeseburgers or $6 wings, calamari or guacamole and chips. They offer a full menu, including steak frites and wild mushroom ravioli. Prohibition has outdoor seating if you’d rather just hear the vibes from the sidewalk. 503 Columbus Ave. DJ’s, guitar players and jazz trios perform at the upstairs bar for free every day at this East Village gem. Downstairs, they book bigger bands in the back room that usually have an $8-$10 cover charge, but if you get there before showtime, there are some great deals in the bar. From 2-8 p.m. daily, savor $4 beers, wines and margaritas, $5-$7 appetizers and the best $7 burger, served on an English muffin. 158 Ludlow St. I love seeing bands at The Red Lion because there is always a perfect view of the stage, with good food and drinks. Cover charges range from free to $20 and you’ll catch some top-notch cover bands and original acts. From 3-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, enjoy $3 drafts, $5 well drinks and half-price appetizers – make a meal of the fried pickles, beef sliders and nachos. On Tuesdays from 6 p.m.–midnight, pig out on 10-cent wings (there’s a two-drink minimum, but we have confidence you can manage that over six hours.) 151 Bleecker St.
