One of the best ways to celebrate the spooky season is by taking in some classic horror films. From Stephen King to Tim Burton, there’s a seemingly endless cache of horror masterpieces on display around Boston this Halloween.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show”
The 1976 cult classic provides a chance for audience members to dress up in costume, sing, shout and laugh their way through a film alongside a theater full of fellow fans. No “Rocky Horror” screening would be complete without a shadow cast – the Teseracte Players of Boston will be doing the honors.

“Pet Semetary”
A Stephen King masterpiece, “Pet Semetary” is the story of a normal family that moves from the hustle and bustle of Chicago to rural Maine – but chaos and horror ensue when they happen upon a pet cemetery built on a Native American burial ground. Star Denise Crosby will join for a Q&A after the screening.

“Ghostbusters”
It may be a Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean ghosts won’t need to be busted on Halloween. Forget about your alarm the following morning and head to the Brattle for a screening of this 1984 classic starring Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Sigourney Weaver.

Halloween horror marathon
Get ready for the ultimate horror experience. This annual event at the Coolidge Corner Theatre features 12 hours of zombies, ghouls, demons and monsters on 35 mm film. The marathon will start with “Zombie” and “Night of the Living Dead” and will continue with four unannounced films – you’ll have to attend to find out.

“The Nightmare Before Christmas”
The Tim Burton animated flick will be showing throughout Halloween weekend. The stop-motion film tells the story of Jack Skellington, a resident of Halloween Town who stumbles upon Christmas Town and wants to introduce his Halloween mates to the new holiday, which brings about a number of consequences.
