The cultural influence of “Hamilton” stretches so far beyond New York City that “Broadway musical” is almost a footnote on its resume at this point. But the annual awards for greatness on the Great White Way brought the focus back to the show’s roots on Tuesday with a record-setting 16 Tony nominations, including Best Musical. Nominations also went to nearly all of the principal cast, including three out of the five nods for featured actor in a musical, as well as for the score and book to Miranda — who has already won a Pulitzer, Grammy and MacArthur Fellowship for the show, among other accolades. They’ll be given out on June 12 at the Beacon Theater, and to paraphrase a lyric from the show, it’s not a question of if, Burr, but which ones the musical will take home.
