Helen Mirren has launched a scathing attack on both Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump, calling Donald Trump’s daughter a hollow and empty feminist while insisting that his wife should use her powerful position to keep the current President in check.
Mirren, who turned 72 just last month, originally took aim at Melania Trump, lambasting the first lady for never having done more than publically swatting away the hand of Donald Trump, which she did during a trip to Europe back in May. This immediately sparked rumors that Melania was furious with Donald Trump. But that wasn’t enough for Mirren, who believes that as “one of the most powerful women in the world,” Melania should have done much more “because she could take him down.”
The Academy Award winning star then turned her ire on Donald Trump’s 35-year-old daughter Ivanka, who has worked as an advisor to the President ever since her father entered the White House, which immediately led to accusations of nepotism. Helen Mirren’s main qualm with Ivanka was her empty brand of feminism, though.
“[Ivanka] talks a good game, but there’s no substance,” Helen Mirren told Esquire. “Her book is so ignorant about how the majority of women live, talking about, ‘Make time for yourself to have a massage.’ Puh-lease.”
This isn’t the first time that Helen Mirren has voiced her huge concerns regarding Donald Trump and his administration. Back in January Helen Mirren also posted numerous pictures to her Instagram account of her protesting the then-recently inaugurated 45th President of the United States in New York City.
Then, during a recent interview with Allure, Mirren compared the Current Commander In Chief’s attempts to run a country to “watching a car crash,” before adding, “There is a sort of mesmerizing horror – it’s why we love horror films.” The problem is, plenty of people would argue that this horror film has already gone on for way too long, and is long past the point of being utterly terrifying.
