While many New Yorkers will mass exodus the city on one last summer hurrah for Labor Day weekend, many others are staying home. So here’s what you need to know about the service schedules for the NYC subway and buses.
The NYC subway and buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day Monday. Keep in mind, though, that some subway lines do not operate on weekends, so remember:
• 5 trains runs between Bowling Green and Dyre Avenue
• 5 and D trains will run local in the Bronx
• Use the 6 and 7 local instead of 6 and 7 express
• Use ACDQ instead of B
• M trains run from Metropolitan Avenue and Delancey-Essex Streets
• Use NQR instead of W
• Use J local instead of JZ skip-stop service
Straphangers should also allow extra travel time when traversing the city this weekend on NYC subways due to planned weekend work.
NYC subway for J’ouvert Parade
From 6-11 a.m. on Labor Day, the Church Avenue 2 station in Brooklyn will be closed due to the J’ouvert Parade. Trains in both directions will bypass the station from midnight to 8 a.m.
As an alternative, passengers can use the Beverly Road or Winthrop Street stations.
NYC buses for J’ouvert Parade
NYC buses in vicinity of the J’ouvert Parade in Brooklyn will be rerouted or delayed, including the B12, B14, B17, B31, B43, B44, B44 SBS, B45, B46, B46 SBS, B48, B49, B67 and B69.
NYC subway for West Indian Day Parade
Due to the West Indian Day Parade taking place on Labor Day along Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, the Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum 2/3/4 station will be closed.
Trains will bypass the station from noon to 7 p.m. Riders can use the Grand Army Plaza or Franklin Avenue stations as an alternative.
Certain staircases at the Crown Heights-Utica Avenue 3 / 4 station will be entrance or exit only.
4 trains will run local in Brooklyn.
NYC buses for West Indian Day Parade
Due to the West Indian Day Parade, NYC buses will be detoured or delayed, including the B12, B14, B17, B41, B43, B44, B44 SBS, B45, B46, B46 SBS, B48, B49, B67 and B69.
Staten Island Railway Labor Day service
The SIR will add extra trains from the St. George Ferry Terminal starting at 2:30 p.m. on the Friday before Labor Day. One express and one local train will await each Staten Island Ferry until 7:50 p.m.
The railway will run on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day.
