The SEC recently ruled that public companies disclose the ratio of the CEO’s pay to that of the average employee. Though most CEOs are certainly one percenters, not all CEOs get paid eight-figure salaries. Here’s a list CEOs whose annual salary is a whopping dollar:
Kinder Morgan CEO, Richard Kinder, even reimburses the company for his expenses, like parking and health-care premium.
Whole Foods Market Co-CEO, John Mackey, cut down his salary to $1 and limited stock options six years ago. Whole Foods caps executive pay at 19 times the average employee.
Co-Founder of Google, Sergey Brin’s annual income dropped to $1 when the company went public in 2004.
CEO of Google, Larry Page, also received an annual paycheck of $1, though his Class A and Class B shares in stock wouldn’t reflect this meager income.
CEO at Urban Outfitters, Richard Hayne, co-founded the company in 1970. Now, that the company includes four brands, including Free People, Anthropologie and Terrain, you’d think he’d take a steeper pay check. Fossil Group CEO, Kosta Kartsotis, doesn’t even receive a dollar. Her annual salary beats all the rest at $0.
It’s important to note that annual salary does not equal annual compensation. Though their income is below the poverty line, their net worth makes them all still very rich people.
