Hillary Clinton officially enters White House race

Hillary 2016 is official.

The former secretary of state, senator and first lady announced her 2016 bid for president with a YouTube video on Sunday afternoon.

In the video, called “Getting Started,” Clinton says she wants to be a “champion” for the everyday American.

“Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top,” Clinton said in the video, which features a diverse cast of characters in various stages of maturity.

The announcement came as reporters set up camp outside her campaign office on Sunday, expecting a 12 p.m. announcement that never came. The confusion sparked more than one hashtag on Twitter speculating #WhyHillaryisLate. An email from her campaign chairman, John Podesta, was reportedly sent to donors and reporters before the video went live.

Clinton lost the Democratic bid to President Barack Obama in 2008. Clinton said in a tweet she’s planning to travel to Iowa this week for campaigning.

An assumed ally, Mayor Bill de Blasio, who managed Clinton’s senate campaign in 2000, told host Chuck Todd on Meet the Press on Sunday morning that he’d like to see a candidate with a “clear bold vision for progressive economic change,” and that he’s not ready to endorse a candidate until he sees an “actual vision of where they want to go.”
