QuickTime is a popular software package that enables users to play audio and video files on their computers using Apple technology.
According to Trend Micro, Apple has decided to no longer provide security updates for QuickTime for Windows, which leaves the software open to security attacks and viruses. Recent security flaws have been discovered that could allow cyber criminals to hack into their computers if certain malware applications are installed or if users visit malicious webpages.
Homeland Security urges anyone using QuickTime for Windows to uninstall it as soon as possible.
