It’s been about a year and a half since New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie underwent stomach lap band surgery and his weight loss has definitely been noticeable since that time.
But, just how much weight did he lose?
The New York Times reports that the tough-minded leader of the Garden State told donors last week at David Koch’s New York City apartment that he’s lost 85 pounds since his surgery. Christie — who, whether he admits it or not — is a top candidate for the 2016 presidency, allegedly told people at the event that he “understood he had to slim down if he wanted to move beyond Trenton,” the paper reported.
Christie, who turned 52 earlier this month, had told the New York Post around the time of his surgery that he’s struggled with his weight for 20 years. “For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.”
In the past, Christie has mocked himself by non-chalantly sneaking a doughnut during a David Letterman appearance or while slow-jamming the news with Jimmy Fallon.
