Listen up, guys: There are more options for you than the standard black suit.
“We’re seeing a lot of color especially in the lavender family for men. Anything in blue — but more of a green blue, that teal feeling is coming on strong,” says Tom Kearnan, fashion director at Indochino, about the season’s big trends. The hip and affordable made-to-measure suiting brand — prices for a custom suit start at $499 and the whole process can be done online — recently launched its summer collection of bright styles and sharp checks, and is also seeing an uptick in accessories in the men’s market. Items such as pocket squares “can be a huge conversation starter,” he says. However, if you’re a groom-to-be shopping for your big day, Kearnan says the gray in Indochino’s Essential collection is the most in-demand.
“The groom and the groomsmen are still the backup dancers to the bride,” he says. “But a gray suit is such a chameleon — it can take on any color. So any theme around the floral arrangements or bridesmaids dresses can easily be played around it.” RELATED: 5 out-of-the-box wedding gifts
But that doesn’t mean the bride and her ladies have all the fun. At Indochino, wedding parties can customize almost every detail of their suit, from the lapel size to jacket lining (retro hula girls, anyone?) to personalized monogramming. And if a groom has four or more groomsmen fit by Indochino, the brand’s Suit Up Weddings initiative will offer the main man his suit free. Did someone just make room in the wedding budget for more booze?
