Yes – they were on the loose before, but Transit Police have found one half of the infamous couple that had oral sex on a MBTA platform. Officers arrested Philip Urban, 50, of Malden Thursday night for open and gross lewdness after he allegedly received oral sex on the platform at State Street Station, reports the Boston Globe. This isn’t Urban’s first run-in with the law; a man who appears to be the same Philip Urban was arrested for domestic battery and assault in 2007. A tipster snapped a photo of the man wearing a Red Sox jacket and jean shorts from behind – the other person’s knees can be seen as he or she squats on the ground in front of Urban.
“Dear MBTA, I understand you are having financial problems and it is difficult to maintain a broken system, however my tax dollars should be going to pay your police force because I shouldn’t have to stand next to a man receiving oral sex,” wrote the passenger on the MBTA’s Facebook page. The incident apparently occurred on May 15 around 2:30 p.m. – a midafternoon break.
Transit Police Lt. Richard Sullivan told Metro, “We’re not going to tolerate this. In my 20 years on the job I’ve very rarely encountered something as brazen as this.” Sullivan made good on this claim after his officers took Urban into custody. He told the Globe, “We put a lot of time into reviewing images from our public safety cameras, and we were able to track him to Malden.”
Urban may be placed on the state’s sex offender list if he has prior lewdness convictions. He faces up to three yars in state prison and a $300 fine. He is to be arraigned on Friday in Boston Municipal Court.
